Furniture and 55-gallon drums of solvent fueled an accidental fire early Thursday morning that authorities said caused $250,000 damage and threatened the Rose Canyon Furniture Co. and Expo Builders Supply stores on Carroll Road in Miramar. The San Diego Fire Department’s Metro Arson Strike Team concluded the fire was “accidental, possibly (from the) spontaneous ignition of woodworking finishing oils or stains,” department spokesman Ron Davis said. The fire began shortly before 1 a.m. in a storage facility next to the stores. Lost to the fire were furniture, building materials, several forklifts and a flatbed truck.
