City officials have postponed until March 4 consideration of proposed changes to Carson’s Mobile Home Space Rent Control Ordinance. The ordinance, which tightly regulates rent increases for mobile home dwellers, was among the first of its kind in the California to withstand a state Supreme Court challenge.

The City Council will consider changing criteria in the ordinance for passing on to tenants the costs of capital improvements provided by park owners. Mobile home residents have said they fear that a change in the ordinance would weaken rent control and prompt another lengthy legal battle.
