Burbank Teachers OK Tentative Settlement
Burbank Unified School District teachers Friday followed the recommendation of their negotiating team and ratified a tentative contract agreement, the Burbank Teachers Assn. announced.
The teachers voted 317-93 to approve the agreement, which calls for a 3% across-the-board salary increase for the 1984-85 school year and additional medical benefits, according to Bonnie Shatun, negotiating chairwoman for the teachers. A simple majority was required for approval.
The settlement came after nearly seven months of negotiations, including six sessions with a state mediator.
The Burbank Board of Education is expected to approve the agreement next week.
