A 25-year-old electrician from Oceanside was killed on a desert road in Ocotillo Wells on Saturday when he lost control of a dune buggy and it overturned on him, the California Highway Patrol reported. David Franklin Kerr was driving on Split Mountain Road a mile south of Highway 78 about 10:30 p.m. when he attempted to brake at a split in the road. The buggy overturned twice and both Kerr and passenger Anita G. Hancock, 28, of Santee, were ejected. The buggy then rolled over Kerr, crushing him. Hancock escaped uninjured.
