Mayor of San Jose Will Make a Bid for Giants

SAN JOSE —
San Jose Mayor Tom McEnery said Sunday he plans to meet with San Francisco Giants owner Bob Lurie within “the next couple of weeks” to discuss the possibility of moving the troubled franchise to the San Jose area.
Last week, Lurie announced the Giants no longer were for sale but that the 1985 season would be the team’s last in Candlestick Park unless a move was made to build a new stadium, if not in San Francisco then anywhere in the Bay Area.
