A Sheriff Department’s investigation into advertisements in swingers’ and singles’ magazines resulted in the arrests of two women Friday on suspicion of maintaining brothels and solicitation of prostitution. Arrested were Linda M. Mattix, 36, of National City, and Rosemary Gradehouse, 53, of Encinitas. In each case, said Lt. Dennis Runyon of the vice detail, the arrests were made after vice investigators wrote to the post office box in the advertisement, established a written relationship and eventually obtained the suspects’ phone numbers. After a meeting date was set, undercover agents went to the suspects’ residences and were solicited, Runyon said.
