An 18-year-old convicted killer of a San Diego policeman was acquitted Friday of charges of sexually assaulting a fellow inmate in the Orange County Jail last year. Jurors found Charles Edward Tyberg innocent of charges that he attempted to forcibly sodomize Ricardo Navarro Bernal in the juvenile section of the jail last March. Tyberg testified at the trial that one incident in which Bernal claimed to have been attacked never occurred and that another in the shower was an attempt by Tyberg to evict Bernal from the shower, not to sexually attack him. Tyberg was in the jail awaiting transfer to state prison to serve his 27-years-to-life sentence for first-degree murder in the February, 1983, killing of San Diego Police Officer Kirk Johnson.
