A 23-year-old San Diego man was arrested late Wednesday after police found two stolen vehicles and an assortment of automobile seats and stereos at his home. Derek W. Russell was arrested at 6 p.m. and booked into County Jail on suspicion of auto theft and possession of stolen property, San Diego Police spokesman Rick Carlson said. The San Diego Police Department learned from state parole officials that Russell might be involved in a citywide stolen car operation. About 11 law enforcement officers went to Russell’s home in the 2700 block Wardlow Street at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, the officers found a late-model pickup truck with out-of-state license plates in the garage, Carlson said. The officers also found another pickup truck with the serial number removed from the engine. Russell was arrested without incident. The investigation is continuing and Carlson said it is possible that more people could be arrested.
