Biola Beaten, 43-40, in the First Round of NAIA Championships

Jeff Guidinger made a 15-foot jump shot with five seconds left to give Minnesota-Duluth a one-point lead, and it they went on to defeat Biola, 43-40, Thursday in the first round of the NAIA national championships at Kemper Arena in Kansas City.

Biola, which finishes the season 29-4, missed a chance to win when the ensuing in-bounds pass was intercepted by Kendall Kelly, who scored on a layup at the buzzer. Minnesota-Duluth (23-7) rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to tie the game with 2:15 left on a jump shot by Guidinger.

Scott Havrisik led Biola with 17 points, including 12 in the first half. Kelly scored 12 to lead Minnesota-Duluth.
