A Los Angeles County sheriff’s sergeant shot and wounded a man who allegedly stabbed another man outside the sheriff’s station in Carson, authorities said. The suspect, Bruce Davis, 62, of Los Angeles was listed in serious condition at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. The stabbing victim, Charles Cullen, 31, of Carson was in stable condition at the same hospital. Deputies said Cullen staggered into the station bleeding and shouting that he had been attacked and robbed outside. Sgt. Thomas Diviak went outside to investigate and a witness pointed out Davis, who was sitting in a car. As Diviak approached the car, Davis attempted to run him down, deputies said. The sergeant jumped out of the way and fired once through the driver’s window, deputies said. Charges of assault with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer are pending against Davis, deputies said.
