Boy Struck by Bullet Fired at Dance Hall
A 17-year-old boy was in serious condition Sunday after he was shot in the stomach by someone who fired into a Garden Grove building where a dance for Vietnamese youths was being held, police said.
Police identified the victim as Somsanouk Thisayavong of Santa Ana. He was taken to the Fountain Valley Community Hospital trauma center.
Sgt. Larry Fischbeck said the shooting occurred about 11:45 p.m. Saturday at 10562 Westminster Ave. The location is a dance school that holds public dances on weekends, he said.
A man drove into the parking lot and fired several shots over parked cars and into the building, Fischbeck said. No one else was hit and no motive is known, he said.
