Prep HIGHLIGHTS : Summers and Presta Help Royal Beat Newbury Park

A three-run double by sophomore Joe Summers in the fourth inning helped push Royal High past Newbury Park, 9-3, in a Marmonte League game Wednesday at home.

Royal (1-1, 3-7) scored six runs in the fourth inning to turn a 1-1 game into a rout.

Sophomore Dan Presta pitched a complete game for Royal, allowing six hits and striking out two.

Chris Davis, Rob Martin and Sean Sullivan had two hits each for the Highlanders. Davis also drove in two runs.

Loyd Wood and J.J. Fisher each singled twice for Newbury Park.

The Panthers are 1-1 in league and 4-7 overall.

Highland Hall 16, Masada 6

Highland Hall High buried Masada under an avalanche of runs in a nonleague victory at home. The Hawks scored four in the second and third innings, three in the first and fourth innings, and two in the sixth.

Sophomore Kory Kipp drove in five runs with a double and two singles to pace the Hawks. Scott McRea and Brian Supowitz each had two hits and two RBIs.

Supowitz (2-0), a junior, was also the winning pitcher.

Highland Hall improved its record to 4-0. Masada is 1-2.

SOFTBALL

Viewpoint 17, Agoura 0

Roxana Rafik pitched a one-hit shutout and struck out 15 as Viewpoint High won at Agoura.

Kim Fields drove in four runs for the Patriots with a home run and triple.

Viewpoint is 4-0 this season. Agoura is 2-7.

Notre Dame 2, St. Genevieve 1

Karen Kuykendall hit a run-scoring single in the sixth inning to give Notre Dame High a San Fernando Valley League victory over St. Genevieve at home.

Winning pitcher Debby Day (5-3) also contributed a run-scoring single to help the Knights remain undefeated at 3-0.

St Genevieve is 2-1.
