94--a Second Straight Sizzler
Los Angeles temperatures hit a record-breaking 94 degrees at noon today, eclipsing 1960’s mark for the day, but the spring heat wave may not last much longer, the National Weather Service said.
The weather service said the 11 a.m. temperature of 90 degrees tied the April 2, 1960, record. The noon reading of 94 was the second record high in as many days. It was 93 Monday at the Civic Center.
The torrid temperatures, set in motion by Santa Ana winds, should start dropping a little soon. The forecast called for lows tonight between 58 to 64, with the downtown high Wednesday near 85.
