Outfielder Rickey Henderson, the base-stealing star acquired by the New York Yankees during the winter, has been placed on the 15-day disabled list and will miss the first four games of the 1985 season, the team said Wednesday.

Henderson went on the disabled list retroactive to March 30 because of a sprained left ankle. He was hurt in an exhibition game March 17 while sliding into third base.

He will be eligible to return to the active roster April 14. The Yankees open the 1985 regular season Monday at Boston.

The Yankees also announced that pitcher John Montefusco has been placed on the 21-day disabled list, retroactive to April 1, because of a nerve problem in his left hip, and that Ron Guidry has been scratched from his opening-day start. Guidry has been bothered by a stiff neck and is expected to make his first start on April 14 at Cleveland.

Henderson, who set a major league record of 130 stolen bases in 1982, was traded along with a minor-league player by the Oakland A’s to the Yankees for five players in December. Henderson signed an $8.6-million, five-year contract with the Yankees.
