A teen-ager arrested in connection with the fire that caused nearly $1 million in damage to the Fallbrook Library has pleaded innocent to charges of vandalism and arson. Darryl Ray Mick, 18, of Fallbrook entered his pleas Wednesday before North County Municipal Court Judge Tony Maino. In addition to the library blaze, Mick is charged with setting two dumpster fires and breaking windows at two banks over the weekend. Despite protests from Mick’s attorney, Gary Orlansky, who requested that the youth’s bail be reduced to $4,500 because he has no criminal record, Maino increased the bail from $30,000 to $50,000. The judge set a bail review hearing for Monday and scheduled a preliminary hearing for April 16. Mick, a senior at Ivy Continuation High School, was arrested a few hours after the pre-dawn fire Monday. Until recently, the teen-ager was employed at a Vista convalescent home. The blaze destroyed more than 30,000 books.
