UC Irvine’s Abraham Sets School Record
Jennifer Abraham of UC Irvine set a school record with a winning time of 4:27.92 in the 1,500 meters Saturday and she also won the 800, but it wasn’t enough to stop San Diego State from defeating the Anteaters, 93-58, in a nonconference women’s dual meet at San Diego.
Latanya Sheffield led San Diego State by winning the 400-meter hurdles in 53.09, the second fastest time for a woman in NCAA history.
In a men’s tri-meet, SDSU outscored Irvine and Cal Poly Pomona. The Aztecs totaled 123 points, Irvine had 50 and Cal Poly Pomona had 27.
Irvine’s Rick Dodson won the steeplechase in 9:14.01, Mark Guest won the 800 in 1:51.68 and Sean Evans won the 5,000 in 14:21.84.
