San Diego
An 18-year-old sailor was killed Saturday when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing Sea World Drive, a San Diego County coroner’s spokesman said. Seaman Apprentice Michael Bledsoe, in training at the U.S. Naval Training Center here, was pronounced dead at the scene just after 11 p.m. Bledsoe apparently was running across the street in the 1700 block when he tripped on the center divider, fell face down in a northbound lane and was struck by a white pickup truck, the spokesman said. The truck stopped momentarily, then left the scene.
