Dontstop Themusic Is Victor; One Pick-Six Payoff: $307,142

Favored Dontstop Themusic, ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye, was outrun for half a mile but then rallied on the outside and drove hard down the stretch to win the $65,600 Silver Spoon Handicap Saturday at Hollywood Park, where there was a big payoff in pick-six wagering.

There was only one winning ticket in the pick-six, and it was worth $307,142, the fifth-highest such payoff in the track’s history.

Carrying 123 pounds, Dontstop Themusic finished three-quarters of a length in front of Force of One, with Laffit Pincay aboard. Pat Valenzuela piloted Circular to a third-place finish, another half-length back in the six-furlong race for fillies and mares.

Dontstop Themusic ran the six furlongs in 1.10 1/5 on a fast surface to defeat six rivals and take home the $38,600 winner’s purse.

Sent off as the 6-5 favorite by 32,210 fans, Dontstop Themusic paid $4.60, $2.60 and $2.40. Force of One returned $4 and $2.60, and Circular paid $2.40 to show.

Dontstop Themusic jumped out of the gate in third but dropped to seventh place to trail most of the race. As the field turned into the stretch, the 5-year-old mare rallied to overtake Force of One, carrying 117 pounds.

Delahoussaye also took the fourth and sixth races aboard Sweet Petunia and Varick, respectively.

In the second stakes race of the day, Don’t Say Halo, ridden by Darrel McHargue, held off the early pace and finished quickly to win the $68,800 Spotlight Stakes.

Don’t Say Halo finished one length in front of Well Related, ridden by Fernando Toro. Huddle Up, ridden by Pincay, finished another two heads back in the mile turf race.

Don’t Say Halo ran the mile in 1:34 1/5 to beat eight rivals and win $41,800.

Carrying 115 pounds, Don’t Say Halo was sent off the third choice and paid $13, $6.40 and $5.
