Moroccan Runs 5,000 in 13:51.02

SHIZUOKA, Japan —
Said Aouita of Morocco won the 5,000-meter run in 13 minutes 51.02 seconds Sunday at the Shizuoka International track and field meet.
Dave Volz of the United States won the men’s pole vault with a vault of 18-8 inches and Lazaro Betancourt of Cuba took the men’s triple jump with a leap of 55-4 3/4.
Kim Turner of the United States won the 100-meter hurdles in 13:42, followed by fellow American Karen Cannon in 13:46.
