Neither Stallion’s Offspring in Derby
Nine 3-year-olds sired by Alydar and four by Affirmed were nominated to Saturday’s Kentucky Derby, but neither stallion will have a representative running at Churchill Downs.
Turkoman, a son of Alydar, had been a Derby possibility, but he dropped out of the picture after running second to Hajji’s Treasure, a non-Derby eligible, in the California Derby.
Althea, a daughter of Alydar, won the Arkansas Derby last year, then finished 19th in a 20-horse field in the Kentucky Derby.
