Cool, Cloudy Weekend in Store for Southland

Share

A couple of storm fronts moving in tandem across Northern and Central California are not expected to bring rain to the southern part of the state, but the weather will be cooler and cloudier through the weekend.

At most, the National Weather Service said Thursday, there could be some drizzles near the mountains early today.

Orange County’s high temperature today should be 66 to 70 degrees, as the marine air layer penetrates farther inland. Morning cloudiness should give way to some afternoon sunshine, but not much. Saturday should be about the same.

The high temperature in Santa Ana on Thursday was 72. The beaches had highs of only 64. Relative humidity ranged from 81% to 46%.

It will be cooler and windy in the deserts and the mountains through the weekend.

April turned out to be unusually dry and warm, the weather service noted, allowing the area to slip behind in rainfall. Only scattered showers appeared during April, leaving the season’s total at slightly more than 12 inches, about 2 inches below normal, but a couple of inches over last season’s total for the date.
