A set of jail keys is missing, so 130 inmates are being kept in their cells while 36 locks are changed in the Butte County Jail. Sheriff’s Capt. Mick Grey said that the jailer who admitted losing his keys has resigned. Grey said the jailer, whom he would not identify, put his keys down on a counter in the area where clothes are issued to prisoners, and they disappeared. There are about 200 prisoners in the jail, but about 70 in the misdemeanor section weren’t affected by the lockdown.
