Prep HIGHLIGHTS : Oakwood Tops Oak Hill, Wins Liberty Title

Scott Marshall hit a two-run homer, and Garret Schiff drove in five runs as Oakwood won the Liberty League championship with a 13-4 win at home over Oak Hill on Friday.

The game was called after five innings because of darkness, but not before Scott Bernstein had pitched the three required innings to earn the win.

Oakwood won the league with a 6-1-1 record.

L.A. Luth. 10, Marshall Fund. 4

Paul Johnson hit two homers and drove in four runs as L.A. Lutheran won an Alpha League game at Marshall Fundamental.

Tom Gannon (1-0) pitched a complete game to earn the win. He also had two hits and two runs batted in.

L.A. Lutheran is 5-9 in league.

Montclair Prep 7, L.A. Baptist 1

A six-run, sixth-inning rally broke a 1-1 tie and gave Montclair Prep its 12th Alpha League victrory in 14 games.

J.R. Smith, Mike Muntz and Reggie Smith all were 2 for 3 for Montclair, while winning pitcher Curtiss Minks struck out nine and allowed only three hits. Chaminade 4, Bell-Jeff )

Pablo Suarez tossed a three-hitter and struck out 11 as Chaminade clinched the Santa Fe League championship with a shutout at Bell-Jeff.

SOFTBALL

Thousand Oaks 4, Royal 0

Thousand Oaks’ Molly Moore had four strikeouts and allowed four hits to even her record at 5-5 and take the Lancers to the playoffs as a third-place representative in the Marmonte League.

The Lancers had to win three of four games this week to reach the playoffs.
