A Texas company that promised to give potential recreational land buyers Winnebagos but delivered sleeping bags--albeit sleeping bags with a brand name of Winnebago--was accused in a suit by the state attorney general of misleading consumers. The company also promised to give gifts of “pleasure boats and motor” if the customers showed up at the property outside Sacramento. The boats were actually inflatable rafts powered by 12-volt-batteries, Deputy Atty. Gen. John C. Porter said. The suit demands that Houston-based International Direct Mail Marketing cease such mass mailings and pay damages of at least $100,000.
