Former U.S. Rep. Bob Wilson and his wife, Shirley, are chairing “The March of Dimes Salutes San Diego,” a Wednesday event organized as a celebration of the anniversaries of the announcement of the Salk vaccine and the donation of land for the Salk Institute.

Other special guests will be actor Robert Young, March of Dimes founder James Roosevelt (Franklin D. Roosevelt’s son), and Charles Massey, the organization’s national president.

To be held in the new Conference Pavilion Ballroom at the Hotel Inter-Continental, the evening begins with cocktails at 6 p.m. and will continue with dinner at 7 p.m. The dress code specifies black tie.
