It’s Treating Ballplayers Like Racehorses

On the face of it, Peter Ueberroth’s attempt to sidle into politics by testing ballplayers like racehorses is amusing. Of course, nobody wants dopers as exemplars for our kids--or adults--but testing them? Or their managers? Or Mr. Ueberroth himself?

Behind all this lurks the threat of greater assaults on civil liberties. Where did our concern for individual rights go? Or the Constitution?
