Man Held in Attempt to Shoot Copter
A 27-year-old Val Verde man was arrested Saturday for allegedly shooting at a helicopter that was on an instructional flight near his home.
Daniel Dealba fired a single rifle shot at the helicopter but did not hit it, said Sgt. Carle Goyen of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Dealba was being held on $15,000 bail at Los Angeles County Jail on a felony charge of shooting at an aircraft.
Goyen said the helicopter pilot, an employee of Watson Helicopter School at Whiteman Field in Pacoima, was taking a student on an instructional flight in the Val Verde area, northwest of Newhall.
