Nearly $4.4 million in federal transportation assistance will be granted to five California cities, including Santa Monica, Culver City and Norwalk. A spokesman for the Urban Mass Transit Administration said that Santa Monica’s bus system will receive $2.23 million to defray operating expenses. Culver City’s bus system will get $408,000 for operating expenses, two service vehicles and other equipment. Norwalk’s transit system will receive $391,600 for operating expenses and the purchase of two wheelchair-accessible vans for its dial-a-ride system.
