Encinitas
The 11-year-old boy injured Thursday in an apparently random shooting has been identified by the Sheriff’s Department as Jason D. Podgurski of Encinitas.
Jason was listed in good condition at Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas after surgeons Thursday removed a .22-caliber bullet from his chest. The child had been playing on the soccer field at Park Lane School when he “felt a sharp pain” in his chest, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
The Sheriff’s Department has no clues in the shooting, but the investigation is continuing, a spokesman said.
