Chris, Martina to Meet in Final
Chris Evert Lloyd crushed 15-year-old Gabriela Sabatini of Argentina 6-4, 6-1 today to move into the women’s singles final of the French Open tennis championships for the eighth time.
Evert Lloyd, 30, who has won this Grand Slam tournament five times, will meet defending champion Martina Navratilova, who ousted Claudia Kohde-Kilsch of West Germany 6-4, 6-4, in Saturday’s final. In the men’s semifinals Friday, top-seeded John McEnroe will take on Sweden’s Mats Wilander and defending champion Ivan Lendl of Czechoslovakia plays third-seeded Jimmy Connors.
