A large majority of San Francisco’s registered voters support a ban on high-rises, and more people are for than against berthing the battleship Missouri in the Bay Area, according to a survey by the San Francisco State University Public Research Institute. The majority of respondents said they want a limit on new office space and that high-rise development should be kept within the existing downtown area. They also said the city should require builders of new office space to help pay for additional housing and transportation services for the new workers. As for the Missouri, respondents were asked to what extent they supported or opposed bringing the historic battleship and its escort fleet to San Francisco. Moderate supporters were the largest group at 34%, strong support came from 27%, moderate opposition from 18% and strong opposition from 21%.
