La Habra : Masked Thieves Escape With $1,500 in Holdup
Two armed men wearing masks escaped with about $1,500 Friday morning after forcing the manager and three employees of a fast-food restaurant into a freezer.
According to La Habra Police Sgt. Joe Milazzo, the two men entered the Taco Bell at 1200 W. Whittier Blvd. through an air vent sometime Thursday night. At about 8:15 a.m. when employees arrived for the morning shift, the pair forced the manager to open the safe and give them its contents.
After cleaning out the safe, the men cut phone lines, herded the employees into the freezer and ordered them to stay there for 15 minutes. The employees emerged after about three minutes and used a telephone at a neighboring business to summon police, Milazzo said.
The were described as 17- to 20-year-old males, both about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and of medium build, Milazzo said. One man was wearing a black jump suit with a stocking hat and gloves, while the other was clad in a blue ski cap, stocking mask and gloves.
