Two armed men wearing masks escaped with about $1,500 Friday morning after forcing the manager and three employees of a fast-food restaurant into a freezer.

According to La Habra Police Sgt. Joe Milazzo, the two men entered the Taco Bell at 1200 W. Whittier Blvd. through an air vent sometime Thursday night. At about 8:15 a.m. when employees arrived for the morning shift, the pair forced the manager to open the safe and give them its contents.

After cleaning out the safe, the men cut phone lines, herded the employees into the freezer and ordered them to stay there for 15 minutes. The employees emerged after about three minutes and used a telephone at a neighboring business to summon police, Milazzo said.
