A 23-year-old man wounded in a shooting incident with three off-duty Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s deputies in a Saugus restaurant died Friday morning, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
Thomas Wilson of Granada Hills died after surgery at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia, the spokesman said.
Randall Hampsten, 25, of Reseda, who accompanied Wilson at the time of the incident, was booked on charges of public drunkenness and later released, said Deputy Lynda Edmonds.
Wilson was shot Wednesday night after he and Hampsten entered the bar of the Ramp II restaurant and were evicted by restaurant employees, who said the two were abusive to waitresses and appeared to be drunk, according to witnesses and a Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
