The body of a man in his mid-20s was discovered Friday by an off-duty Los Angeles police officer who was riding his horse in an undeveloped canyon in Granada Hills, authorities said.
Police did not know the cause of death or the man’s identity.
The body, found west of the 11600 block of Zelzah Avenue, was clad only in jeans and tennis shoes. There was a large bloodstain on the right side of the face, authorities said.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office will perform an autopsy over the weekend, police said.
