Mets’ Strawberry Has Cast Removed
The cast was removed from the right hand of New York Mets right fielder Darryl Strawberry Friday, the club said, and he may begin an exercise program in the near-future.
The cast and a pin in Strawberry’s thumb were removed by Met team physician Dr. James Parkes. Monday, Strawberry will be examined by hand specialist Dr. Dick Eaton, who may prescribe a program of exercise.
Strawberry is expected to begin swinging a bat in two weeks, the Mets said.
Strawberry tore ligaments in the hand May 11 while making a diving catch. He underwent surgery to repair inner ulnar collateral ligaments May 13, the day after he was placed on the disabled list.
