Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the abduction and sexual assault last week of an 8-year-old girl, the third such incident in the West San Gabriel Valley this year.

Detective D. R. Jezak said the girl was abducted about 7 a.m. June 5 in front of Ralph Waldo Emerson Elementary School in Rosemead, sexually attacked and then driven to Baldwin Park, where she was released about half an hour later. Jezak said described the suspect in the Rosemead case as a young, light-complected Latino man, but said she could offer no other details.

A 6-year-old girl was abducted from Wilcox Elementary School in Montebello on Feb. 25 and sexually assaulted, said Detective Dan Hibbard of the Montebello Police Department, adding that a “strong possibility” exists that the cases are related.
