Two people were critically injured and another received minor injuries Friday night when the two cars in which they were traveling collided, then hit a parked car in Van Nuys, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The accident, which occurred about 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of Van Nuys Boulevard and Rayen Street, trapped the two critically injured people for 20 minutes until firefighters equipped with the “jaws of life” freed them, spokesman Larry Ford said.
The injured, whose names were not released, were taken to Panorama Community Hospital and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, both in Panorama City, and Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills.
