Lazers Pick Amr Aly First in MISL Draft
The Los Angeles Lazers drafted 1985 NCAA Player of the Year Amr Aly in the first round of the Major Indoor Soccer League draft Wednesday.
Aly, 22, a midfielder from Columbia University, captured both awards that symbolize the top collegiate soccer player in the United States--the Hermann Trophy and the Adi Dassler award. A native of Egypt, Aly has lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. for the past twelve years and has represented the United States 33 times at the youth and senior level and in Olympic and Pan American Games competition.
