An American Airlines DC-10 bound for Dallas and San Francisco blew a tire and plunged into a swamp today as it was taking off from San Juan’s airport. At least 25 people were treated for injuries.

An airline spokesman said that the wheels of the plane never got off the ground and that all 257 passengers and 13 crew people aboard Flight 633 were evacuated from the aircraft, some by motorboat.
