Fire Guts Apartment: Newport Beach firefighters fought for more than 30 minutes to control a two-alarm fire early Friday that gutted a unit in Promontory Point Apartments, 200 W. Promontory Drive. Fire officials said the blaze started at about 1 a.m. in a unit occupied by Joseph Caprio. The blaze caused an estimated $100,000 damage.
