Medalist Sam Randolph of Santa Barbara and Brad Greer of Huntington Beach, both students at USC, will meet in today’s 36-hole final for the California Amateur championship at the Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Randolph, 21, advanced to the final by defeating Tim Robinson of Palo Alto, 5 and 4, in Friday morning’s quarterfinals, then needed only 20 putts for 16 holes to oust Dennis Paulson of San Diego, 3 and 2, in the semifinals.

Randolph, a runner-up in the NCAA and U.S. Amateur championships, was three under par in the quarterfinals and four under par in the semifinals.

Greer, 23, the Southern California Amateur champion, defeated 1982 tournament winner Gary Vanier of Albany, 5 and 4, in the quarterfinals and held off Jim Myers, a 40-year-old fire department captain from Oceanside, 2 and 1, in the semifinals.

In other quarterfinal matches, Paulson defeated Tom Silva of Santa Clara, 2 and 1, and Myers downed Ray Pellegrini of Daly City, 4 and 3.
