Tentative agreement has been reached between 2,000 janitors and their employers, ending a strike against San Francisco’s high-rise buildings after only one day. With Mayor Dianne Feinstein sitting in on meetings, the two sides hammered out an agreement, which now goes before the union membership for a vote Tuesday. The mayor met separately first with officials of the San Francisco Contractors Assn., which represents the 11 largest maintenance companies, and then with officers of the janitors’ union, the Service Employees Union Local 87. Details of the agreement were not announced.
