Police appealed to the public for information regarding the June 29 murder of Robert Lee Whitman, 22, who was fatally stabbed as he stood with a friend at a pay telephone near the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Argyle Avenue. Detectives said Whitman, who had been attending a party at the Palladium, was trying to arrange transportation home when a passer-by stabbed him in the chest with a survival knife. Police said friends of Whitman’s father are planning to offer a reward in the case. Anyone with information to offer was asked to call the Hollywood Division detective bureau of the Los Angeles Police Department at (213) 485-6410.
