Saving Money

Where and when do we stand up to protest and object to huge sums of money being spent for studies, surveys, polls etc.? The latest spending spree is $200,000 being allocated for for a survey to locate a site for a four-year college in Ventura County (Times, July 9).

A solution to the above fiasco is very simple and will save the taxpayers some money. Merely, mail a list of the specifications, restrictions, requirements, etc. to all licensed real estate offices in Ventura County. The more ambitious and aggressive realtors, I’m sure, will submit all available property that would be suitable for a college site. In all probability, a survey team would be contacting these same realtors and come up with the same property that would be submitted free.
