Fire Spreads Through Attic, Guts Buildings
A fire gutted a row of Lake View Terrace commercial buildings early Wednesday, causing an estimated $1.2 million in damage before it was extinguished by 60 firefighters, a city fire official said.
No one was injured, but seven one-story industrial shops and warehouses were damaged or destroyed, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said. The burned businesses included a wood-carving shop, a medical supply outlet and a beauty supply firm, Wells said.
He said it took 18 fire companies slightly more than an hour to extinguish the 4 a.m. blaze at 12345 Foothill Blvd., which spread through a common attic of the businesses.
Investigators are trying to determine whether or not the blaze was set, Wells said.
