Santa Ana : Financing Proposal in Works for Fiesta Center

Share

If the Fiesta Marketplace, a $10-million entertainment and shopping center planned for downtown Santa Ana, is approved by the city next month, the developers will fund much of the project with cash raised from industrial development bonds.

An application for $7 million in tax-exempt bonds has been approved, but Assistant City Manager Rex Swanson stressed that the proposal can still be rejected “if the city is not satisfied in all respects with the project and the financing terms.”

A public hearing Tuesday kicked off efforts to win a $1-million federal grant for the center.

The marketplace is planned for 4th Street between Bush and French streets.

Swanson said that the center would emphasize Latino-oriented restaurants and theaters as well as street vendors and artists.
