$109,754 AWARDED TO 23 L.A. ARTS GROUPS

Twenty-three Los Angeles County-based arts organizations have been awarded a total of $109,754 in matching grants by the County Board of Supervisors through the newly formed National/State/County Partnership.

Directly supervised by the board’s County Music and Performing Arts Commission, the partnership provides grants to area arts organizations that have limited fund-raising abilities or resources. Funds are contributed by several organizations: the National Endowment for the Arts, the California Arts Council and the Board of Supervisors itself.

The partnership’s grants are awarded semiannually to arts organizations based in the county that exhibit need and provide innovative contributions to the county arts environment.

Guidelines and applications for the partnership’s next grant period are available through its office, (213) 974-1317, and should be returned no later than Sept. 3.

Arts Repertory Ensemble, $3,500; Lafayette Players--West, $2,500; L.A. Theatre Works, $2,500; Long Beach Grand Opera, $10,000; Los Angeles Area Dance Alliance, $10,000; Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, $10,000; Los Angeles Theatre Alliance, $4,000; Panjandrum Press, $2,500; Quantum Arts Network, $8,000; Self Help Graphics, $5,000; Social & Public Arts Resource Center, $4,000; Stages Inc., $3,774; Third Street Development Corp., $2,000; Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum, $2,500; Women’s Community Inc., $7,500.
