An anonymous caller led Los Angeles police to the scene of a cockfight in the Wilmington area that resulted in the arrest of 43 people and confiscation of 27 live birds, police said. Officers raided a home in the 1100 block of Pioneer Street shortly after receiving the phone tip and broke up a purported cockfight in the back yard, Lt. Jim Murphy said. The owner of the property, Pablito Ocampo, 41, and 42 others were arrested and booked for being present at a cockfight, Murphy said. Also seized were various cockfighting paraphernalia, including cages, steel spurs and hypodermic needles allegedly used to inject the birds with stimulants, Murphy said.
