Local News in Brief : Driver Arrested After Tarzana Crash Hurts 3

A48-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated Thursday after she was involved in a three-car collision in Tarzana that injured her and two other women, police said.

Duffy Caroline Steele of Santa Monica was traveling north in the 6000 block of Corbin Avenue about 7:40 a.m. when her car crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with two other vehicles, said Officer Rick Vigil of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Steele suffered three fractured ribs and was treated at Northridge Hospital Medical Center and released. The driver of another car, Diane Riger, 26, of Chatsworth, suffered a broken right leg and was listed in stable condition at the same hospital, a spokeswoman said. The third driver, Dorothy Bailys, 63, of Reseda, was treated at the hospital and released.

Steele told officers that she had been drinking and was lost when the accident occurred, Vigil said.
