A 17-year-old boy was arrested early today for the bludgeon slayings of two teen-age brothers and their grandmother in their Temple City home, police said.

The youth, also a Temple City resident, was arrested at his home and booked on suspicion of murder in connection with the bludgeoning deaths of the victims Thursday night, Sheriff’s Dep. Dave Hogan said. He was being held without bail at the Temple City Sheriff’s Station, Hogan said.

The bodies of (Peter) Jae Whan Chung, 17, (John) Jae Hung Chung, 14, and Boc Sil Kim, 58, were discovered shortly after 9 p.m. by the boys’ parents when they returned to their suburban home, Hogan said.

Feuding Reported

The suspect, whose name is being withheld because he is a juvenile, allegedly had been feuding with the two boys, Hogan said, but the reason for the rift was not clear.

Hogan said the suspect apparently was admitted to the house in the 9000 block of Ardendale Ave. on Thursday afternoon by the grandmother, who was unaware of the ill feelings between the youths.

Friends and neighbors of the victims’ family said they knew of no reason for the slayings and described the family, who moved into the house about two years ago, as quiet people who attended church regularly. Bill Brod, assistant principal at Temple City High School, said the slain boys were good students and that he was not aware of any problems.

“I just can’t believe it,” said K. An Duk, a neighbor and fellow Korean who said he knew the family well. “They’re just normal kids.”
